My Last PUMA bashing diary

It is my guess/experience that PUMAs are basically a combination of the following characteristics:

Most have subtle levels of latant racism. You know the type - these are older paleo-liberals who cloak their racial resentment in their minor role in the civil rights movement. These folks think that black people are ungrateful and whiny. The tell-tale sign of this demographic is when you hear them refer to "the blacks" as a monolithic group.

They are extremely immature, petulant, and spiteful. This is particularly troublesome for the female PUMAs who claim to be fighting for women's liberation after a supposedly sexist campaign. These female PUMAs are actually helping lend credence to a hurtful and untrue stereotype about women - that they are prone to irrational emotionalism/fits of anger. Female PUMAs are the worst thing to happen to feminism in a decade, because they claim to represent the feminist movement, but they sound like racist petulant morons. No wonder real feminist leaders have distanced themselves from PUMAs.

PUMAs are also small in number. There aren't very many. The internet amplifies their movement.

Many claim to be lifelong Democrats and in fact many are. Many others (particularly the male PUMAs) are marginal Democrats who liked Bill Clinton and these warm feelings transfered to Hillary Clinton.

Some PUMAs simply suppored Hillary Clinton because they hated Obama. Their racism against black people so strong that they transferred it into positive feelings about the black man's white opponent. Again - these folks may consider themselves Democrats, but they are actually Dixiecrat racists who only vote for Southern Democrats and Republicans.

Ok that's it for me. No more PUMA bashing diaries!!!

PS: I get the feeling that many are mentally ill. And they have about 35 cats a piece. Behind every PUMA is at least 25 cats!

PPS: I love cats. But one-two is enough.

Re: Tips for my last one. (2.00 / 2)

Glad to hear this will be your last PUMA diary.  If for no other reason, you need to understand tha attacking Democrats will not inspire them to become pragmatic:  "Most have subtle levels of latant racism."  In fact, it is quite puerile!

Who cares if 2 dozen crazy people vote for McCain?

Why court the racist vote? I mean...unless you're running against a black man in a Democratic prim...........hmmm....

Pumas aren't Democrats. (2.00 / 0)

They're just garden variety McTrolls. So insult away since they won't be voting for Obama anyway.

Re: My Last PUMA bashing diary (2.00 / 4)

In keeping with my previous Diary.

Congrats on getting this diary up well within the 24 hour time limit. You do get some extra credit for using adjectives I hadn't put on the list.

Now be careful not post another one!

Re: My Last PUMA bashing diary (1.00 / 3)

And you forgot to include this:

Obama is seeing a vastly different Iraq than the one he saw when he last visited more than two years ago. Violence and American casualties are way down and the streets of Baghdad are bustling again.

So far this month, five U.S. troops have been killed in combat, compared with 78 U.S. deaths last July. Attacks across the country are down more than 80 percent.

This diary's pretty disgusting... (2.00 / 4)

...considering I don't see a snark tag. In fact, under different circumstances, I'd probably send an email to the moderators to ask that it be banned.

So, all PUMAs are racists? And, there's also an analysis by gender, too. Isn't that priceless!

IMHO, folks like this are as much--in fact maybe more--of a problem for our Party than many of the "PUMAs" whom they protest against.

As I've commented in recent days past, I can't wait for this self-imposed ban on PUMA diaries to take effect. It's about a month overdue...

you know what ive noticed. (2.00 / 4)

that there's certain users here that are what i call the purity trolls.  you know - the ones that have no interest in progressive ideals unless it promotes a specific candidate?

hhmmm.... off the top of my head i can think of a few.  can you?

Re: you know what ive noticed. (none / 0)

What you call "purity trolls," others call Democrats who support their party's nominee.

by Beren on Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 03:39:42 PM EST
[ Parent ]

nope. (2.00 / 4)

what i call purity trolls are people that are fake progressives.  meaning they are people that only stand for progressive ideals only when it benefits or promotes a specific candidate (in this case obama).  this includes the bashing of other democrats who are and are not the nominee.

beren - i notice you had no interest in my diary about hunger in africa - why is that?  because it did not flame or promote anyone?

the purity trolls are as bad as the PUMA.

Re: nope. (none / 0)

Thats over the top CG, WAY over the top.

Sure I purity trolled but it was only when I saw people spout trash about good progressives in the media, in elected office, and even dead people (remember the out of control attacks on Tim Russert 12 hours after his death).

You will get nowhere with your purity troll meme when alot of the former hillary bloggers took to attacking anyone who seemed to be liberal and leaning towards Obama.

You know what got me hooked on this site, was supposed Democrats praising Joe Lieberman and ranting and raving about some made of whitey tape.

So if I go after them, am I purity troll?

If so I am damn proud to be one

Re: nope. (none / 0)

And when I say "way over the top" I refer to her saying a Dem Purity troll is as bad as a PUMA.

Do you know HOW MANY times I posted substantive diaries during the primary, just to have my diares BASHED for being too liberal?!?!

Like with the http://condimustgo.com/ campain

I posted a diary, and got flamed and bashed for being to liberal.

The whole blogosphere moved on that, and nary a peep here.

do you consider yourself a purity troll? (2.00 / 2)

sorry friend but the world does not revolve around obama.  yes - people here should not be spreading lies and/or promoting mccain.  but this site is not an advertisement for a specific candidate.

and im no fan of joe's - but why shouldn't he be praised?  he was after all the VP democratic candidate eight years ago.  ive seen people here praising hagel because there are rumours obama might select him.  are you a partisan or not?  do you have progressives principles or only when they relate to obama?  ask yourself that next time you mojo a comment.

see you cannot have it both ways.

Re: do you consider yourself a purity troll? (none / 0)

I dont think you understand me, or are simply misrepresenting me.

I have seen outright attacks on liberals, progressives etc etc.

My purity has nothing to do with Obama, it has to do with the party.

Why is it on this site, EVERY SINGLE progressive hero/media darling was bashed and torn to pieces.

True it was over the primary, but in the end I found this site took my notion of Democratic unity and flipped it inside out.

I never knew that conservative democrats existed before I came here.

So my beef is with those who bash the Progressive Blogosphere and it's collective spontaneous agenda.

How can a true progessive activists actually HATE the Daily Kos,  now really, hate it?

I came into this site the biggest fanboy, thinking I was riding along a political revolution, and then all I saw was that get torn apart because people were mad that the "blogosphere" and activists were behind Obama.

Thus you get the PUMA movement.

Also,  I must tell you that outside of the capitulations the 2006 congress did over and over the last two years, this site was the first thing to make me ashamed to be a Democrat.

If anything this site has made me alot more cynical.

your comment is full of holes. (2.00 / 2)

but ill address a few...

How can a true progessive activists actually HATE the Daily Kos,  now really, hate it?

hmmm...  let's see - if you were a HRC supporter on kos, you were not welcome, attacked and/or harassed.  progressive enough for you?  what do they call it fair-weather friends?

Why is it on this site, EVERY SINGLE progressive hero/media darling was bashed and torn to pieces.

who like russert that you mention in your previous comment?  you know that same russert that enabled bushco and the iraq war.

it seems you are exactly as i purport - the obama progressive.  meaning that your values live and die by a candidate.

enjoy it - it should be good for at least 8 years.

Re: your comment is full of holes. (none / 0)

Again all about hillary.

So do you still HATE the evil liberal blogosphere that chose Obama over Hillary, that chose the DNC over the DLC?

Because thats what it sounds like you are spitting out.

I mean really CG?  you still hate the majority of liberals here?

are you going to nitpick the primary forever?

Would you be happy if ever blog and tv station that according to you was mean/unfair and in your words "sexist" be shut down and never to be seen again?

If the gods of the Dem underground came to you and gave you the power to close every "enemy" blog and just keep Mydd and you other fav blogs, would you do it, would you be happy?

I just dont get it, Im on the other side and as a liberal Obama, Dodd, and Edwards all made sense to me.  Out of the three, I found Obama's youth and independence of Dem insider nonsense made him my man.

I will say it one more time, I am a liberal, plain and freaking simple.   Obama is the nominee of the political party I choose to align myself with.

The Democratic party is the only party with actual power that will move what I consider my agenda for America forward.

The republicans have nothing for me, I disagree with them on everything.

So yes, I know my enemies, and I know my friends;  but I expect my friends to get better.

Im tired of capitulation, Im tired of the phrase "move to the center" always means move the right for a Demcrat, and 'lie to the Democrats about bipartisanship' for the republicans.

I guess I dont get you CG, I thought you were with us, liberals, progressives, democrats etc etc I know you are, but it seems you are letting spill alot of the Anti-democratic meme's recently.

You really hate the world's biggest political blog, which happens to be on our side.   All because the primary got a little rough?

Re: I've noticed (1.50 / 2)

It's possible to take issue with needlessly inflammatory and broadly insulting material no matter what its subject.

Diaries and comments that make blanket accusations, paint with a broad brush, and ridicule with cruelty don't add much to the discourse, and end up lowering themselves to the level of those they disdain.

I'm all for legit criticism. This ain't it.

I take issue with its disparaging of cat owners. At least, that was the final straw after a long string of fail.

I'm no friend of this so-called "movement." But I agree with jsfox. Everyone's done what they had to do, it's time to take the country back now. Meanwhile, our nominee is winning back the world.
